Polypropylene

The main uses of natural GCC-fillers are garden furniture, polypropylene film and weaving tapes. The mean particle size should lie between 1.5 and 3.5µm. Very white, surface-coated products are preferred

Polyethylene

Fine, surface-coated calcium carbonates with a mean particle size less than 3µm are used as anti-blocking agents for film manufacture and as a "grinding medium" in pigment masterbatches (e. g. TiO2) to break up pigment agglomerates.

Unsaturated Polyester Resins

For SMC and BMC applications, calcium carbonates with a mean particle size between 1.5 and 10µm are used. Using mixtures of fine fillers (mean particle size about 1.5µm) together with coarser products (mean particle size about 10µm) can improve the packing density and so reduce the viscosity

Sealants

Calcium Carbonates with a mean particle size of between 1 and 5µm are used as fillers in applications as silicones, polysulphides, two-component polyurethanes, epoxy and acrylate systems). The theology (flow properties) of the formulations is regulated by using very fine silicas or ultrafine precipitated calcium carbonates (PCC)
